Each year, we talk to thousands of customers about their public cloud deployments in all of the major hyperscalers. Consistently, the health of customer cloud ecosystems is marginal because of a few key focus areas: workload & cost optimization, security posture, and monitoring. We hope that this blog post, based on our findings and observations, will serve you well.
Running workloads in the cloud provides a number of advantages to businesses. Because the business does not own the hardware the workloads are operating on, they can be treated differently than workloads running in a data center. No longer do businesses have to worry about capital infrastructure costs; cloud costs are typically operational and can be adjusted as needed. With cloud services, cost optimization should be done on a periodic basis to keep costs down.

Many technology users are aware of the concept of serverless computing, but not sure of the advantages it has over other software implementations, or how easy it is to develop a solution that fits into their business practices.
In the ebb and flow of technology, convergence has gone through many stages. Where mainframes consolidated workloads, commodity servers allowed workloads to be broken out and configured for specific use cases. Then, virtualization allowed for servers to remain individually unique, while still sharing consolidated hardware. But this required merging hardware from multiple vendors into a single solution.
The pandemic has highlighted the speed at which people and technology can respond to disruption and the critical importance of digital transformation to keep the world running.
Cisco HyperFlex Gets a Big Performance Boost from Intel® Optane™ DC SSDs. Today the adoption of the hyperconverged infrastructure HCI is more widespread than ever, as over half of IT managers and executives say they employ HCI solutions, or plan to. The benefits that drive this steady shift to HCI include its scalability, improved total cost of ownership (TCO), ease of deployment and simplified systems management.
What does vertical leaping mean in light of COVID-19?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) was once an obscure field of science and used primarily in research and academia. In the past few years, AI has made huge leaps and is increasingly ubiquitous within the marketplace. Big tech companies have been proliferating the adoption of AI as a new customer experience platform.
Applications are the new face of modern business. Customer loyalty is dependent on the performance of your applications, and faults within that application can have a drastic impact on your market share and revenue.

"Collaboration tools are a cost of doing business." This statement was made to me by the CFO of a 3-billion-dollar organization. When I asked about ROI (return on investment) or IRR (internal rate of return) as a justification for the tools, he was ambivalent because he trusted the executive team making the expenditure to do the required due diligence.
The annual Presidio CIO Summit recently brought together 50 influential IT executives in an intimate setting to share their challenges and insights about the forces that are driving digital transformation. A key element for success: drawing on the knowledge of an experienced, trusted advisor.

What does Collaboration mean for technology today? Nothing, but what does technology mean for Collaboration, now that is the question. It seems like every day we hear that we have more choices than ever before to communicate, but somewhere along the way we gave up on the dream of Unified Communications, and just moved on to Collaboration. But what does that mean, really?
Presidio’s Top Takeaways from Cisco Live 2018
From the release of HyperFlex 3.5 to the announcement of a hybrid cloud offering from Cisco and Google, Presidio saw all kinds of transformative technology at Cisco Live 2018. But our most valuable takeaway? The opportunity to strengthen relationships with our closest industry partners.
For technology solutions that deliver enduring ROI, look beyond equipment and individual vendors to the overall environment.
Quickest way forward to a cloud computing service model with minimal operational disruption and the most workload placement flexibility.
As choices proliferate and digital transformation grows more complicated, an expert guide can help.
As everyone in IT knows, the demands on the data center (DC) keep growing – and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. So, how can businesses manage this trend and turn it into a competitive advantage?
What are the primary motivations for moving to the cloud? For many businesses, it boils down to simplicity. They want to reduce the complexity of their current network and data center and capitalize on the flexibility and efficiency the cloud offers. IT departments want to shift their focus from the day-to-day demands of managing technology and concentrate on delivering the innovation that technology makes possible.
Many businesses want to take advantage of cloud economics and flexibility, but they have concerns about the security of workloads that move between the controlled environment of an on-premises network and the cloud. The good news is that VMware NSX can help a business address these concerns and give it the flexibility to move workloads to a cloud environment and back without compromising security or creating more complexity for IT.
Something interesting is going on in enterprise data centers. Companies are finding that nothing they do within the glass walls yields a competitive advantage. Application strategy, business process optimization, industry innovation — the way IT supports those initiatives can help a company stand out in a crowded and competitive market. But the way a company runs cable doesn’t.
IT environments are inundated by an ever-rising wave of data that must be stored, managed and mined – resulting in application latency issues that impact performance. Now, a new class of solid-state drives, Intel® Optane™ SSDs for the data center, are proving themselves in multiple independent tests, accelerating storage performance for latency-sensitive workloads.
While the world outside grows more connected and complex, the job of managing the modern data center is fast becoming simpler and more streamlined. Here’s a look at five strategies that are driving the transformation to simplicity.
The Big Data Opportunity It is very apparent that data has emerged as the most valuable asset of companies. For years’ companies have spent countless dollars securing it, transporting it, storing it, organizing it and even visualizing it. For over...
We’ve all attended security seminars and we frequently hear the general question, “How secure is your business?” It seems like a very general question until you start to take a look at what is involved to secure an organization. How do I develop a...
Digital transformation is happening. Over the next five years, private sector revenues that are digital are expected to increase from 16% to 37%, according to Gartner’s 2016 CIO Agenda. A comparable trend is found in the public sector, where Gartner projects that digital processes will go from 42% to 77%. Enterprises large and small are looking to leverage digitization to make their business more flexible, agile, faster, and better integrated with their customers. They want to leverage digitization to collaborate better among themselves and with their clients—driving a better experience for all.
Every industry vertical is seeing the impact of digital transformation, with early adopters reaping the greatest business benefit. The Internet of Things (IoT) is making a new era of connected vehicles possible. I’d like to share two stories of connected transportation that demonstrate digital transformation in action. Much more than simply connecting vehicles and devices to the internet, they show how technology is changing business models and outcomes.
The most valuable asset to any business is its data. According to Forbes, in 2016 ransomware attacks grew at a blistering pace to 638 million, more than 167 times the number of attacks in 2015. Around 50% of these attacks targeted the US. And we can only expect the trend to continue. On the front lines, Presidio customers have called us in to help recover data after ransomware attacks and avoid bitcoin payments, and to counter attacks on their networks and endpoints. Because of these types of cyber threats, the FBI has urged CEOs to take measures such as implementing security incident response and business continuity plans.
Your organization has decided a multi cloud environment is the right strategy for 2017 and beyond. Many enterprises are moving in this direction. In my last blog post
, I shared how the many benefits of a multi cloud strategy are driving this trend. The next logical step? You want to find a partner that can help manage and support your multi cloud architecture—to help you manage data and applications across multiple platforms, and ensure performance is optimized for availability, interoperability, security, and compliance. Your competitive advantage is at stake.
