In AWS circles there is one award the technical community covets above all others: the AWS Golden Jacket. AWS presents it to individuals who hold every active AWS certification at the same time, 12 in total, spanning the foundational, associate, professional and speciality levels of the AWS certification programme.
We are delighted to announce that Will Chalmers and Paul Corley, both solutions architects in Presidio’s UK and Ireland team, have each been awarded the Golden Jacket by AWS.
“I started building my AWS certifications because the work demanded it,” said Will Chalmers, Solutions Architect, “but then getting to all 12 became a personal challenge. There are not that many people with the jacket, so having two of us in the same UK&I team feels like a huge accomplishment.”
“12 is a serious commitment, which the business supported us to do,” added Paul Corley, Principal Solutions Architect, “and it demonstrates how seriously we take the depth of AWS knowledge and skill set that we offer to our customers.”

What it takes to earn the AWS Golden Jacket
The Golden Jacket is not a single exam. Each AWS certification is valid for three years, so holding all of them at once means keeping every credential current while AWS retires older exams and introduces new ones. In the past two years alone AWS has added certifications in AI and data engineering and retired others, which keeps the target moving. That is why the number of Golden Jacket holders remains so small. AWS does not publish an official register, but community estimates suggest only around one hundred people worldwide hold the jacket, and only a handful of those are based in Europe.
