Three Steps Organizations Can Embrace for a Successful AI Strategy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) was once an obscure field of science and used primarily in research and academia. In the past few years, AI has made huge leaps and is increasingly ubiquitous within the marketplace. Big tech companies have been proliferating the adoption of AI as a new customer experience platform.

With AI, big tech companies have improved customer experience, making a difference in how customers are consuming their products and features. For example, AI has made huge strides with aspects of Natural Language Processing (NLP), recommendation engines, and predicting customer churn.

According to Forrester, by 2024, AI will be integral to every part of business, resulting in 25% of the overall spend on AI Solutions.

While AI Adoption Is Flourishing, Some Organizations Are Still Skeptical

If organizations don’t charter AI into their business workflows, they will be outpaced in innovation by competing organizations that have successfully adopted it. While it is imperative to start your organizational journey with AI, some leaders are still skeptical.

Here we discuss three steps that will help organizations get started on their AI journey.

In 2020, Forrester predicts that 25% of the Fortune 500 will add AI building blocks like text analytics, machine learning (ML), and NLP to their digital transformation.

1. Imagine the Possible: A Deep Understanding of AI Use Cases

AI can help organizations to drive value by providing data-driven insights. Sometimes, AI can be overwhelming for organizational leaders. A common misnomer is that it is too advanced a field of science and cannot be integrated into business workflows.

Imagining what’s possible with AI is the key factor to having a successful AI strategy. It starts with understanding the use cases, and then building a cross-domain team that can align the use cases with business processes.

Below is an example of AI use cases:

2. Start Small: A Scalable Approach

Always start small, with predefined outcomes that can be measured. That’s the next step in an AI-right approach. Recent technological advancements, on many fronts of the IT industry, make it easy to start small with very little CapEx investment.

Cloud solution providers, elastic compute infrastructure, and general availability of AI/ML algorithms make it easy for organizations to validate their AI business use cases.

A huge explosion on the innovation of GPU has also reduced the timeline to run AI/ML experiments faster.

3. Partner Wisely: Choosing the Right Partner

It is paramount to choose the right partner, who can guide organizations to achieve AI goals. It is imperative that the partner team should have proven capabilities in the areas we discussed in earlier sections.

And, finally, the partner should have multidisciplinary expertise with a wide range of technologies, including customer experience. After all, AI is nothing but the new face of customer experience.

According to Gartner, by the end of 2024, 75% of enterprises will shift from piloting to operationalizing AI, driving a 5x increase in streaming and data analytics infrastructure.
