The Implement Segment of the Business Technology Life Cycle

What happens in this segment?

In many ways the Implement segment is the heart of the Business Technology Life Cycle. This is where the work and decisions of earlier segments has a tangible effect on the customer’s business. Unfortunately, that tangible effect is often first visible in disruption and disarray as equipment arrives. As work continues, IT services may be interrupted, and already stretched IT resources must often be redirected from support duty to installation and integration tasks.

The negative effects of implementation work can be very nearly eliminated by working closely with a competent technology partner. Equipment can be staged away from the job site until needed, minimizing on-site storage requirements and eliminating the risk of inadvertent damage. Old equipment can be removed from the site and stored until the job is done, then sold or safely disposed of. Staff resources can be augmented by implementation specialists, who can assist with or lead the implementation effort and whose product knowledge, shared as part of the project, can substantially ease the IT team’s transition from old systems to new ones.

What specifically is involved?

It is easy to focus on the installation of hardware and/or software as the central focus of the Implement segment of the Business Technology Life Cycle. In fact, there are several tasks that must be completed:

  • Install equipment and software (and remove what was replaced, if needed)
  • Train users and support staff
  • Track and manage assets

How can Presidio Technology Capital help?

Presidio Technology Capital offerings associated with the Implement segment of the Business Technology Life Cycle include:

Project Financing

Implementation projects often mean invoices arriving from a dozen or more vendors, and engineering assistance with hourly billing that throws cash flow projections out the window. Presidio Technology Capital pioneered project financing, an innovative lease structure that wraps project expenses into a set of known payments, along with hardware and software, providing unprecedented cash flow predictability and allowing companies to pay for services not as they are delivered but as the company begins to realize the benefits those services provide. Presidio Technology Capital leases can be written for equipment supplied by any vendor, or we can coordinate with our sister companies Presidio Networked Solutions and Atlantix Global Systems to supply the full technology solution as well as the lease, and assume all the accounting headaches of multiple vendors and invoices to give the customer a single, predetermined payment schedule.

Rental Equipment

Implementation efforts can lead to a short-term need for equipment, either to temporarily supplement legacy systems or to substitute for new equipment not yet available. Presidio Technology Capital provides very attractive rates for short-term rentals for both current and legacy technologies, and by teaming with Atlantix Global Systems can often provide needed equipment configured to specifications within 24 hours.

Implementation Assistance

Our sister company, Presidio Networked Solutions, will provide expert implementation services. Presidio engineers assist customers with a range of projects, from very simple jobs to massive multi-site efforts rolling out over a span of months. Highly skilled project management keeps projects on track and on time, and ensures full communication between Presidio and customer team members. Presidio's 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse and 20,000 sq. ft. Integration Center provide unparalleled staging capacity, allowing them to configure and test equipment before it arrives at the client site, ready to install.

Training

Presidio technical professionals are not just skilled engineers; many are also experienced trainers, able to convey even highly technical information clearly and fully. Most Presidio technical professionals are not just skilled engineers; many are also experienced trainers, able to convey even highly technical information clearly and fully. Most Presidio engagements include "knowledge transfer" as a matter of course; on-site personnel provide hands-on education to customer IT resources as part of the implementation effort. More formal education, whether for IT staffers, corporate trainers, or end users, is also available.

Asset Inventory

Whether a small LAN or an extensive WAN, an accurate asset inventory is vital to effective network management and administration. Asset information is also important for other purposes, including financial reporting and insurance. Presidio Technology Capital provides an accurate and detailed inventory with every lease. Our partners at Presidio Networked Solutions can also perform a detailed inventory of IT and/or telecommunications assets. Presidio Technology Capital will also assist with our revolutionary customer information portal (PASS) to keep that inventory up to date over time.
